~Kuuchuu Buranko~ The anime to go to if you're missing Popee. It might not be POPEE, but you've got some similar vibes going on!At this point I probably don't need to warn about it as you're here on the Popee forums-- and probably so as a fan, but the connected show's a TRIP. An absolutely bizarre and extremely stylized artstyle, not to mention an equally as strange and unusual plot for a Japanese animation. No big deal, right? After all, you watched Popee. The biggest connection to Ryuji Masuda's work that I found was no doubt their key main characters, the connection being between our circus performer 'Popee' and vice chairman psychiatrist 'Irabu Ichirou'. Most notably in Popee's 'scientist' art design. Irabu is, as noted above, a psychiatrist at a hospital that uses bizarre methods to treat his patients- through the series, Irabu treats many different types of individuals that have a range of issue- being it anything from cell phone addiction to...Yes, erectile dysfunction. Irabu switches seamlessly from three different designs- the one that the patients always see at the beginning before being diagnosed properly is the one above with the animal head; the other two being after they get a 'vitamin shot' injection-- a small child with an oversized lab coat, and a teenager-looking middle ground between the two. The entire show has an extremely strange look to it-- the background characters appearing as cardboard cutouts, diagnosed patients appearing with animal heads matching the personalities and symptoms of the illness, the patients and, notably the nurse, appearing in live action strips. Though it's jarring in a different way than Popee is to some, I do hope you'll give it at least two episodes! Such as with Popee, I wish to spread the love of this odd but highly different and tasteful show.

Hey Ive had a chance to watch it and I really like it! The scenes with the nurse are cool. When you said that the people in the background were cardboard cutouts I didnt really know what you meant but they walk around as paper people and its so trippy.
